My guesses for where guys will open:

Osuna, Hanson, Garcia and Polanco — West Virginia or State College.

Carvajal, Barrios — State College

Fortunato — State College or GCL

Urena, Herrera — GCL

Escobar, Ramirez — GCL or DSL (Being in camp doesn’t automatically mean they’ll be in the GCL, although it probably does.)

The video you have of the players taking infield practice shows Allen Hanson having superior fielding mechanics compared to the others who seemed quite raw. It’s understandable why he would be above the mentioned players and why the discussed coach would mention Hanson.

They are already in the top 3 in my opinion. It will be difficult for McPherson to raise his profile given he’s already 24 and he’s shown quality stuff with excellent results.

Great article Tim! I have heard of some of the international signings but did not know much about their skill level. I have been following Marte the last few years, got to see him play in Altoona last year as I live about 35 minutes from there, and I can’t wait to see him debut in the Burgh.

I think its just a front office and a GM that recognize this is the best way to spend money and rebuild a system and organization. McClatchy and Littlefield put no emphasis at all on this area.

I’m liking the Latin SS, high ceiling US pitcher approach. Latin pitchers bust so often and the domestic SS’s can’t stay on the position.
