Sun, 18 Jan 2015 14:56:00 +0000 hourly 1 By: emjayinTN Mon, 19 Mar 2012 16:33:00 +0000 A very wise decision by the Pirates to return Justin Wilson to the starting rotation at AAA.  They experimented with him out of the bullpen at the end of 2011, and although he was clocked at 99 mph over short bursts, nobody, including Wilson, knew where the ball was going.  I still remember this chunky looking kid leading Fresno State to the CWS Championship beating North Carolina in an elimination game and then 3 days later pitching through the 8th and beating Georgia 6 – 1 in the Championship Game.  Tanner Scheppers was the Ace of the FSU staff, but got injured and Wilson took over.  He gives up hits, his K/W Ratio could be better, but he does one thing better than anyone else we have at AAA – he knows how to win.  He has a lot of bulldog in him.  We will see at least two lefties from AAA this year from among Justin Wilson, Rudy Owens, and Jeff Locke – Locke and Owens will play the whole year as 24 year olds, and Wilson will start at 24 and turn 25 in August.
