Weekend Pirates Draft Prospects Preview: 3/23-3/25

Notes From the Past Week

-Deven Marrero went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two strikeouts against UNLV. Heading in to the game Marrero had two strikeouts in 62 at-bats on the season.

-Trey Williams went 2-for-2 with two walks on Wednesday.

-Mike Zunino 2-for-4 with a double against Samford on Tuesday. He went 0-for-3 yesterday in the first game of a three game series against South Carolina.

9:00 PM EST – Georgia Southern (Chris Beck) at Furman

6:15 PM EST – Valencia HS (Trey Williams) vs Saugus

7:00 PM EST – LSU (Kevin Gausman) at Auburn

9:30 PM EST – Arizona State (Deven Marrero) vs Cal

SATURDAY

1:00 PM EST – Florida (Zunino) at South Carolina

2:15 PM EST – San Francisco (Kyle Zimmer) vs UC Santa Barbara

9:30 PM EST - Arizona State (Marrero) vs Cal

SUNDAY

1:00 PM EST - Florida (Zunino) vs Vanderbilt

3:30 PM EST - Arizona State (Marrero) vs Cal

  1. has Lance McCullers Jr. pretty much fallen off the face of the earth??? for ALONG TIME he was said to be the best prospect for the draft and now i rarely ever hear about him. and it sure looks like as of right now, the top 8 guys are going to be rounded out by (in not particular order) Appel, Buxton, Giolito, Marerro, Zunino, Gausman, Trey Williams, Beck as of right now

    • Beck is not a top 8 guy

      • yeah he is bud. im assuming you dont know the one big thing on scouting baseball talent…to not base a guy just off this seasons numbers/performance alone. uhhhh are you aware of cole’s numbers at UCLA in his last season there, yet he was still said to be the best overall prospect. and jonathan mayo on MLB.com has Beck rated exactly at #8 and i trust his insight way over someone like you since im a big fan of his work
