In my opinion, none of the starters are extension worthy. I would go year to year on all of them with the arb process. At this point, you aren't going to get enough cost savings in the arb to offset the variability that Morton/McDonald/Karstens all potentially have.

All pitchers are volatile, but Bumgarner for SF has a track record in the minors and now majors. There was less variability there and it's a good deal.

The only player that should be extended on this team is Neil Walker, but I've said my piece on that issue.

James McDonald might be the next guy to get a extension - 4 years for 20 mil with a 5th year option. The other guys they can do without or go year by year arb wise.(karstens and morton)
