It was his first start of the season. It wasn’t that he couldn’t get through six, it’s that they have to build up arm strength and pitch count.

I’m not impressed by any starting pitcher who can’t even get through 6 innings. This is why guys like James McDonald have no endurance anymore, because at least 6 innings is no longer expected of them in the minors. It’s no wonder today’s starting pitchers are so weak and lame compared to the starters of the 60′s & 70′s.

I wish I had a radar gun with me. The pitch indicator didn’t seem to be consistent last night. I believe Alderson is throwing 89-91 fastball right now. He looked very sharp. His curveball was nasty, too, making the players knees buckle. I liked what I saw from him during spring training (big league camp) as well.

I was really surprised at Tim Alderson’s velocity on his fastballs. While the pitch speed indicator wasn’t working,it was pretty apparent that he was a good 5 mph quicker than any previous time I had seen hm pitch over the past 3 seasons.
