I thought before the season began and still do that the Boston Red Sox will come calling for Hanrahan. Given the pressure to win and the fact that their backend bullpen guys are duds (one hurt, one imploded), they’ll pay a heft sum for him as long as they are in contention.

Whether Hanrahan is traded during the season (I hope not) or after the season (sure, go ahead), I’m starting to think that Brad Lincoln is the darkhorse to become The Next Closer.

The uptick in his fastball, coupled with a ridiculous Bobby Bradley-esque curveball, has led me to think that his future may be in the 9th inning. This says nothing of the fact that I too think the closer designation is overrated.

I still think it’s probable that at some point mid-season Taillon and Cole move up to Altoona together – Regardless of the ERA of Cole, both of their arms are weapons and need to progress towards the major league club.
Anyone who saw Yu Darvish pitch against the Yanks yesterday? That’s the kind of impact these two arms are going to bring to the Bucs and the sooner the better.
By the way, prospect or not – I’ve never seen Brad Lincoln look better than he did today. Excellent location, nice secondary pitches and 96 mph heat… very nice Mr. Lincoln, very nice.
