Hanrahan Placed on Bereavement List; McCutchen Recalled

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Right-hander Joel Hanrahan was been placed on the Bereavement List on Thursday afternoon. The closer picked up his sixth save on the season on Wednesday night at PNC Park with a heavy heart due to the passing of his Grandmother. After whiffing Ryan Zimmerman to end the game, Hanrahan pointed to the sky in her memory.

Hanrahan is expected to return to the club on Sunday.

The Pirates recalled righty Daniel McCutchen from Triple-A Indianapolis. McCutchen went 2-2 with a 2.49 ERA over 11 games with Indy this season.
