I’d take Almora, if he’s there. Or one of the top six guys. Or Giolito, if healthy. But I don’t think Marrero is that bad of a pick if all of those guys are gone and Giolito isn’t healthy.

What you’re ignoring is the value of plus defense at shortstop. You’re also ignoring the floor for Marrero. There might be more potential upside with Fried, but his floor is also lower. Marrero is a strong bet to make the majors and have an impact.

It’s not like Bullington. That was the first overall pick. This is the eighth overall pick. It’s a big difference.
