Minor League Schedule: 5/9/12

West Virginia is off today. They resume play tomorrow night at home, game one of a seven game homestand. Last night’s Altoona game was suspended in the top of the fourth inning. They will finish that game this morning, then play the regularly scheduled game afterwards. The second game will be a seven inning contest. Indianapolis has an early afternoon starting time today. Cain has a 3.86 ERA in four home starts

Triple-A: Indianapolis (18-13) VS Lehigh Valley (17-14) 1:05pm
Probable starter: Justin Wilson (2-3 3.97)

Justin Wilson will get his seventh start of the season today. He is the team leader in strikeouts with 34, which puts him in third place in the International League, eleven behind the leader. Justin’s last start five days ago was hit shortest outing of the year. He gave up five runs in four innings, allowing six hits and three walks. In his previous outing, he threw 7.1 innings without allowing a hit. Left-handed batters are hitting .098 against him with 17 strikeouts.

Double-A: Altoona (13-16) VS Bowie (12-18) 10:30am
Probable starter: Mike Colla (0-3 4.99)

Yesterday’s Result: Altoona 4 Bowie 4 suspended in top of 4th

Mike Colla will get his seventh start of the season today. He will be the first Curve player to reach that mark, Brandon Cumpton and Nate Baker have also each made six. Colla is second on the team in innings with 30.2 and he is first in strikeouts with twenty-five. In his last start on 5/4, he went six innings, allowing six runs on nine hits with no walks and three strikeouts. Twice this season he has struck out seven batters in a game.

High-A: Bradenton (16-16) VS Clearwater (16-14) 6:30pm
Probable starter: Colton Cain (1-2 4.88)

Yesterday’s Result: Bradenton 5 Clearwater 2

Colton Cain will make his seventh start of the season tonight. He is coming off of a six inning performance on 5/3 in which he allowed one run on eight hits, while striking out five. Those five strikeouts are his season high this year. In his previous outing, Colton allowed seven runs in four innings, his worst outing of the season. He has pitched a total of 27.2 innings this year, allowing 29 hits, 11 walks and he has recorded twenty strikeouts.

Low-A: West Virginia (11-21) VS Charleston (21-9) 7:05pm 5/10
Probable starter: Matt Benedict (2-1 1.97)

Yesterday’s Result: West Virginia 2 Greensboro 10

West Virginia is off today. They currently sit in last place in their division, 12.5 games behind first place Charleston. Only one team in the other division of the South Atlantic League has a worse record, the Rome Braves, who are 6-25.
