Why not? Who ever heard of Yamaico Navarro before the Pirates got him? Sutton has more of a track record than him, and a better one too. Even in very limited time, he’s never hit less than .200. Would you rather have him, or Navarro?

C’mon…it’s been 8 AB’s. In the past 4 years, he has played for CIN, CLE, BOS, and now TB. 1 week ago no one ever heard about Drew Sutton, because he’s a minor league journeyman that has never had more than 60 AB’s in a single ML season, but now we’re lamenting the “loss” of him?
Clearly, TB wanted him and the Pirates worked a deal to get him in exchange for a PTBNL and future goodwill from TB. If there weren’t sites dedicated to every transaction, like this one and MLBTR, you wouldn’t even know this happened. Or cared. This happens a lot more frequently than you think.

I’ve gotta think that the Bucs had the PTBNL in mind when they dealt FOR Sutton, knowing that Tampa would deal with them.

He is 28 y.o., but the way I see it, he’d be an upgrade over Navorra. We can’t keep him, but the Rays can roster him???

I think this begs the question… wha???
First you trade for a guy for cash… we don’t know how much and before you put it in your wallet you trade him away?
Not sure what to make of this, frankly I liked the looks of the guy although I wasn’t sure how he’d fit he can play just about any position on the field and had what appears to be a decent bat.
Any way Tim to determine what caliber of player that you get in return for a guy like Sutton? … I hate PTBNL’s.
