Baseball America has released their third mock draft (free version here), and this time they have a different name going to the Pirates with the eighth pick. The previous two mock drafts had Deven Marrero going to the Pirates, but this time around they have left handed prep pitcher Max Fried.
They noted that there’s a clear top eight for most clubs (the usual seven, plus Max Fried) and that the Pirates would be more likely to take one of those players than a shortstop with the eighth pick. They also added that the Pirates would be more likely to take Mississippi State right hander Chris Stratton than they would Deven Marrero.
