Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus released a mock draft today of the top ten picks, which is all you need for Pittsburgh Pirates predictions. Goldstein had Deven Marrero going to the Pirates with the eighth overall pick, noting that the whole industry thinks that the Pirates will take Marrero. He also noted that Albert Almora would be tempting if he fell to the Pirates.

The top seven picks in the mock draft were Byron Buxton, Mark Appel, Carlos Correa, Kevin Gausman, Kyle Zimmer, Mike Zunino, and Albert Almora. As I pointed out yesterday in my tiered rankings, I’d go with one of Max Fried, Deven Marrero, or a healthy Lucas Giolito in that situation, with my preference being Giolito, if healthy.
