Guys from 11-40(draft is only 40 rounds now) can only negatively affect the bonus pool, and that is by going over that 100k price limit. You won’t see the Pirates spend anymore than 5%(if they do) over that bonus pool amount because the penalties start to get significant after 5%

The truth is that most of these players won’t make the majors, so if they don’t develop, don’t blame our system.

If Appel and Mathieson (or any other two players) turn out to be average to above average players, and we get a useful player or two here or there, it will have been a good draft. Anything more than four is awesome!

I like the players – I especially like the two young OF prospects in the 1A, 2nd and 4th – Remind me of PRNW, Bonilla and Van Slyke.
