They could easily have Barrett Barnes in this lineup as well, as the NYPL is a very safe placement for the college star. I think that has more to do with giving SC some talent and he may skip right over WV next year ala Alex Dickerson this year.

They are both very young and they basically skipped over State College(each played three games there last year) so they won’t rush them their first year in full-season ball. Hanson does have a poor stolen base rate to go along with his high error total so he needs to learn to utilize his speed too. His two flaws are easily fixed with seasoning in the minors.

Polanco I would say just needs more consistency, big difference between the two games he has started, couldn’t take much from his pinch hit AB in the first game. I’ll get a better idea on him after tonight’s game. He would really be a big jump if he was moved up though, this is by far his best season. He has never hit for average or power during his first three years but he has always been highly thought of by the Pirates. So they saw this in him when no one else (who only saw his stats) could see the potential.

Another thing to watch with Hanson if his late season stats, he has worn down in August his first two years in pro ball

I liked the fact that he does have the hands, feet, range, and arm strength to stay at SS, because his bat is going to play – he had some nice stats in the GCL last year, but nothing like he has posted this year with his 40+ extra base hits at mid season? Is he a possible for moving up to Hi A this year, along with Greg Polanco?
