Jake Fox Released by the Pirates

The Pittsburgh Pirates released infielder Jake Fox today in order to add infielder Jordy Mercer to the Triple-A roster.

Mercer was optioned from Pittsburgh on Sunday when they recalled reliever Bryan Morris.

Fox signed a minor league deal with Pittsburgh on November 22, 2011. He hit for a .236/.309/.366 line over 123 at-bats at Triple-A Indianapolis this season....
