Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitching prospect Luis Heredia will start the 2012 season with the State College Spikes, Cory Giger reports. The 17-year old right-hander pitched in the GCL last year, throwing 30.1 innings. In that time he put up a 4.75 ERA, a 6.8 K/9, and a 5.6 BB/9 ratio.
State College will begin their season on Monday, and will play their first home game a week from today. No word yet on when Heredia will make his first start.

Very curious to see what kind of progression he’s seen since last year.

Good, maybe he’ll be enough of a star attraction to keep the Spikes.

Great to see that they are pushing him to SC this year. Aggressive push tells me that they like what they see with him so far this spring. I was resigned to believing that he would spend the year in the GCL.
