Between the minor league reviews, projects’ progress reports, this day in bucco lore, exhaustive draft analysis. It’s a wonder how I get anything done in the early a.m. HEY – I don’t get nothin’ done, but enjoy your blog. AND that is enuff for me

For example, slot is $2.5 million and you sign the guy for $2 million, you then have 500k to play with elsewhere.
If the player (at any pick 1-10) doesn’t sign you lose the whole slot amount from your budget.
There is no slot for 11-50, just the rule that says anything over 100k counts against your round 1-10 pool. Rounds 11-50 are not part of the pool so you can’t save any money there.

If the bonus money disappears, how do we save money for other picks, like Buehler and Appel. Or does just the first round money disappear?

Howabout 11-50? Can we just not sign a bunch of those 100k picks and use THAT money? I don’t think so, but….ya never know. lol

If Appel doesn’t sign, the slot money for him disappears from our pool. Since the other picks 1S through 5 will require full slot money or more, there just won’t be enough to do anything with more than one top HS kid.

And what about guys like Freddy Avis, Jameis Winston, and C.J. Hinojosa, are they also dropping because of signability issues? Will we take a chance on any of them?
