Evan Meek Recalled from Triple-A; Juan Cruz Placed on DL

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled right-handed reliever Evan Meek from Triple-A Indianapolis and placed righty Juan Cruz on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder¬†inflammation. The move was retroactive to July 18.

Meek posted a 2.21 ERA over 27 appearances at Triple-A with 23 walks and 30 strikeouts over 36.2 innings. Meek appeared in 10 games with Pittsburgh this season and posted a 7.59 ERA.

Cruz posted a 2.61 ERA over 31.0 innings with Pittsburgh this season. In his last appearance on the 17th, Cruz tossed 0.2 scoreless frames with two walks.

    I can see the Morris argument, however Meek has been here before and that should benefit him. His performance however will dictate how long he stays.
