PITTSBURGH, PA -- The Pittsburgh Pirates demoted outfielder Jose Tabata to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, and recalled Gorkys Hernandez from Triple-A Indy.
Tabata is hitting just .230/.295/.341 on the season. Last week, Manager Clint Hurdle said sending the outfielder to Triple-A was an option, due to his lack of hustle and production in the lineup and on the field. Tabata is batting .267 over his last 10 games.
Hernandez made his Major League debut with Pittsburgh in May and went 2-for-10 (.200) over nine games....
