Pirates Sign 16th Round Pick Max Moroff for $300,000

The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed 16th round pick Max Moroff, Pirates Prospects has learned. Last night I reported that the Pirates were close to Moroff’s amount, but that reports were he was leaning toward going to UCF. No word yet on the bonus amount, although I would imagine it is a deal over the $100,000 limit for picks after the 10th round.

UPDATE: Moroff receives $300,000, which is $200,000 over slot.

  1. Combined with all the other machinations today, this tells me that the Pirates are offering Appel just slot ($2.9M) or have already moved on from him.

    • And I LOVE it!!!!!!! Google Matt Harrington Mr Appel! It ain’t OUR fault your advisor made you slip to 8th!!!

  2. Hopefully Buehler isn’t out of the question, but probably isn’t looking particularly good either.

    • I’d love to get him. Esp if we don’t get Appel. He may be fallback if we don’t?
