The Pittsburgh Pirates announced the signing of their 24th round pick from the 2012 draft, outfielder Tyler Gaffney out of Standford.
Gaffney hit .245 with 10 doubles, one triple, two home runs, 17 RBI and 48 runs scored as a junior this year at Stanford University. He made a total of 30 starts in left field, 16 in center field and four as the designated hitter for the Cardinals.
Gaffney will join the State College Spikes.

I’m sorry to be a jerk, but it is Stanford, not Standford. And their nickname is not Cardinals, it is The Cardinal.
