Gerrit Cole Leads Baseball America’s Prospect Hot Sheet

It’s a big day for the top pitching prospects in the system. On the same day that Jameson Taillon was promoted to Altoona, Gerrit Cole ranked number one on this week’s Baseball America Prospect Hot Sheet.

Cole got the top spot for his two starts over the last week, combining for a 0.79 ERA in 11.1 innings, with a 15:3 K/BB ratio. Last night he struck out nine batters in six innings, which was a career high for the 2011 first overall pick. Cole has a 3.19 ERA in 48 innings with Altoona, along with a 52:13 K/BB ratio. In his last four starts he has given up three earned runs in 22 innings, with a 26:6 K/BB ratio.
