Matt Curry Promoted to Triple-A

According to Kristy Robinson, the Pittsburgh Pirates have promoted Matt Curry to Triple-A:

Curry went 2-for-4 tonight with a double. Coming in to the night he had a .283/.351/.477 line in 392 at-bats with 11 homers. By going to Triple-A he will get some playoff experience and some extra playing time beyond this weekend.

  1. Well deserved. I hope the Pirates clear enough deadwood out of AAA so that he will be the primary 1B in 2013. Close to 50 Extra Base Hits at Altoona, which is not a hitter’s paradise, and I expect his power from the left side will be closer to 20 HR’s/yr at AAA and then PNC. A 16th Rounder, he is a true “sleeper”, and a guy who, IMO, will be our next 1B and will stay there a long time with the Pirates.
