The Pittsburgh Pirates optioned right-hander Kyle McPherson and left-hander Justin Wilson to Triple-A Indy on Tuesday. In order to make room on the roster, the Pirates recalled righty Daniel McCutchen from Triple-A, and activated Chad Qualls from bereavement list.
McPherson and Wilson both made their Major League debuts on Monday in San Diego. McPherson tossed two scoreless innings allowing just one hit and struck out two. Wilson struck out the side, and gave up two hits, in an inning of work against the Padres.

I think I’d rather have McPherson than D. McCutchen. Oh well, I guess it can’t hurt to give him some more AAA experience.

Why? McPherson is a starter, not reliever.

Just because he’s a starter doesn’t mean he can’t pitch from the bullpen for a little while…
