He was nicknamed the fort after Fort McHenry because he’s like a fort behind home plate. Both Walk and Brownie came up with it last year. That’s why he visited it this year and said it was a cool experience.

On one of the telecasts he mention that he visited Fort McHenry and put the name on to McHenry. I don’t recall anything said about his defense.

Guys like him belong in Pittsburgh. Good guy, too…Easy to root for.

He showed power potential in the minors, so I’m not so surprised with that, but 10 homers in so few at bats is more than anybody could ask for. His homers are not cheap either, he hits bombs. He also hits with men on base and in tight contests when runs are hard to come by.
Give Huntington & Hurdle credit too for going after him and sticking with him. McKenry is a huge part of this special blessed season.
