Pirates Promote McPherson, Wilson; DFA Cruz

The Pittsburgh Pirates made the recall of Kyle McPherson and Justin Wilson official. Pirates Prospects learned about their promotion early this morning.

In order to make room on the roster, the club designated Juan Cruz for assignment, and placed infielder Jordy Mercer on paternity leave for the birth of his first child.

The Pirates also announced that Kevin Correia will make the start tonight in San Diego. The right-hander pitched two innings in last night's 19-inning game, so will not be able to pitch deep into the game. If McPherson or Wilson come in for relief, it would be both of their Major League debuts....
