Starling Marte Placed on DL; Jose Tabata Recalled

The Pittsburgh Pirates placed rookie Starling Marte on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain. Jose Tabata has been recalled from Triple-A.

Pirates Prospects learned late last night that Tabata was heading to St. Louis to Join the team. Tabata has hit for a .297 average with Triple-A Indianapolis since being demoted from Pittsburgh in late July.

There will be another roster move expected to come after the game or on Monday. Jordy Mercer is expecting his first child with his wife Kasey. He will leave the team for paternity leave starting on Monday for three days according to Rob Biertempfel of the Trib. The infielder is hitting .188 on the season, but recently saw more playing time due to Neil Walker's injury (right pinky dislocation)....
