Gonzalez began the season with Colorado Springs, the Rockies’ Triple-A affiliate. He also spent a couple of months pitching for Monterrey of the Mexican League before signing with Houston in late August. He made two starts with Triple-A Oklahoma City, allowing two runs over 13 innings. He made his MLB season debut on September 3rd at PNC Park, allowing only one run to the Pirates in 5.1 innings. He made another effective start in Cincinnati before being hit hard by the Phillies a week ago. Gonzalez has thrown his fastball in the 88-92 MPH range with some sinking movement in his first few starts. He also appears to have a slurvy 73-79 MPH breaking ball, a 74-78 MPH changeup and an 83-86 MPH cutter.
