Holt does not have the arm strength or range to play SS everyday in the major leagues. Could he spot start? Sure. The other problem is that he doesn’t not hit for enough extra base power to warrant a move to 2B — even if Walker wasn’t entrenched there long term.
Holt will be a better version of Josh Harrison, which I mean as a compliment.

Somebody tell me if there is any chance that Holt can play SS in the majors? I love what he would bring to this lineup starting in front of Barmes, but what can he do defensively? I hear the arm is poor. Just how bad is it and are his throwing problems fixable?

Great to see this kid getting on base at the top of the order. Hard to tell how many more games we could have won early in the season if we had a leadoff guy getting on base. I can see Holt getting some outfield reps this offseason and maybe he can become our supersub like Harrison next year. OBP and smart AB’s at the top of the O is the main thing this offense lacks. Without it we have no consistency from game to game because there are no tablesetters for our big bats.
