The Pirates did outright purchase a franchise and moved them to become the Bradenton Marauders. That case was more of having a franchise in the same city as their extended Spring Training complex, though.

I thought Minor league teams are privately owned, like the spikes..and they can determine who they are affilated with. I know they did this with bradenton a few years ago,,,does that mean they have to purchase that franchise?
