I have seen it quoted, and I think this is where we are.
Clint does a good job of changing the clubhouse atomshpere and motivating players, but he cannot take a team to the next level.
Time to bring in someone capable of taking the Bucs across the finish line!

Clint, let’s look at what Qualls is:
Only VanDen Hurk and Takahashi have a WORSE ERA on the team than Qualls.
His Batting average against is .304, again only VanDenHurk, Takahashi and J Wilson are worse.
His ERA since he has been with the Pirates is 7.94.
I would have preferred that you give McDonald a chance in this situation.
He hasn’t pitched since the 14th and has been in pressure situtations.
BRING IN Morris or Hanarahan. This was an important game!
I don’t want to hear “He has pitched in more 8th innings than anyone else in the bullpen.”
That is a crap reason, because you didn’t hesitate to start McPherson in a playoff race., and it was his MAJOR LEAGUE DEBUT!
Sorry for the caps, I am tired of the mismanagement of this team. We are NOT as bad as we are playing. Barajas needs to go, but take a look at Barmes numbers over the past month. We are a catcher and a manager than can manage a game away from being in the post-season.

The job Qualls has done is, what it is.
Yes, Mr. Hurdle, his record does speak for itself. Your best quality is your motivation and upbeat attitude. These guys are past needing a cheerleader. A sound approach to lineup selection and bullpen management are of more need.
Having an expanded roster has impeded your decision making, confusing you with too many choices. KISS, at least to me, applies greatly here.

We shouldn’t take for granted the soon to be 20 years of excellence in futility the Pirates have given us. Not only do they have the record for most consecutive losing seasons, they are trying to expand on it. You would think just by dumb luck you would have 1 winning season in that span, but not the Pirates. Only true dedication to the product on the field can accomplish such a feat, I mean who can argue with running out future H.O.F.ers on the field every game such as Barajas and Barmes everyday for our viewing pleasure and the pleasure of knowing that we are going to have another season of watching Barmes because we are paying him way too much. Now lets go out this off season and overspend for some more has beens, buy Hurdle a few more Shrek movies, and pray that the Steelers have a good season and we can hear Mike Lange say “It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh” this year.

They have to out play five teams over the last 13 games to get into the post-season. Maybe I’m late to the party, but reality has hit me this evening like a ton of bricks. The Pirates are now closer to the Cubs than they are to the Reds. Chad Qualls had no business being in this game. He has no business being in close games.
