Having McDonald skip a start now would only be about three months late. McDonald’s downfall started immediately after his ill-advised 122-pitch complete game on June 21.

Maybe before the ASG we could have included him as someone that the Dodgers gave up on only to see him pitch like an All Star elsewhere? JVB? Instant depression. He should be shut down due to “Arm Fatigue”. We waited on Karstens listening to him tell us he was capable of pitching and now he has become more injured than he was when we first had the option to shut him down for awhile. Neither Karstens or McDonald have the history of throwing 190+ innings. The fastball tends to straighten out, and the curves/sliders tend to flatten out, and then the mental side of it kicks in, or in this case, kicks out.

Yeah, at this point in the year there is no point to shut a guy down for a start then rev him back up. Nothing to gain. We are still a 5 game winning streak away from being contenders again but do we really need him? He is not helping us. I’d rather see McPherson get his starts and get the experience.

I agree wholeheartedly. This guy needs to be shut down for the season. He has gone from top-of-the-rotation type to John Van Benschoten. Jeez!!!

The title of this article should have been, should JMac see a psychologist over the offseason, because all of this guy’s problems are directly associated with the fact he’s a total head case.

Since the ASB JMac has allowed 1 run per inning in 10 of 12 starts. Should he just sit out the rest of the season?
