AFL Recap: Santos and Gift Have Three Hits Each, Pitch F/X for Black

The Scottsdale Scorpions beat Peoria 12-2 today, with help from two Pirates prospects on offense.

**Adalberto Santos went 3-for-5 with a double.

**Gift Ngoepe went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, and four runs. Prior to this game he had two hits in 25 at-bats.

**Vic Black pitched a shutout inning to close out the game. He gave up a hit and two walks, while striking out two. Black threw 25 pitches, with 13 strikes. 21 of those pitches were fastballs. Pitch F/X was available, and had Black sitting 95-98 MPH, averaging 96.43 with his fastball. He threw four sliders, with one at 83 MPH and three at 84.

    Those velos from Black are just smoking! Can’t wait to see Santos in Florida next Spring. I don’t know about his fielding but I know he has a little pop, a little speed, and takes pitches and just flat out hits everywhere he goes. We need a guy who can get on base so I’m sure he’ll get a good look next spring. His only issue right now is he has so few AB’s above AA.
