Hopefully the ‘not likely return to the Pirates next year’ for Takahashi and Qualls is accurate. I don’t care to see either of them in spring training.

Hopefully the notes for Qualls and Takahashi stating they aren’t likely to return in 2013 are correct. I don’t believe either of them should even get a spring training invite.

Joel Hanrahan’s 2012 season gamelog was kind of a microcosm of the Pirates’ season.

Consider that on August 8th, Hanrahan saved his 33rd game, and the Pirates stood at 16 games over .500 (63-47). But he only saved 3 games the rest of the season, due to fewer save opportunities, as the Pirates finished 16-36.

McCutchen’s not arb eligible yet. Believe he was one option remaining.

I’d like to see the Pirates hang onto McCutchen. He pitched OK in AAA, and they must have thought SOMETHING of him to bounce him up and down like they did. I don’t think he’s arbitration eligible.
