Lost in all the talk that Ngoepe strikes out too much is the fact that he sees a ton of pitches and takes a lot of walks. If he can learn to keep more of his ABs alive and put more balls in play he could be a dangerous player. Easier said than done...but he is still only 23 next year and he hit 9 HR in 124 games last season. THat is solid pop for a SS. He has 11 HR in his last 547 AB with 70 BB and 146 K. I doubt he will be ready until mid-2014 anyways but he will be fun to follow this winter and next year. So hard to find a decent SS that can hit and field above average. Remember Ray Olmedo? A guy we picked up and then left off the 40 and he got claimed? HE was back in the majors after 5 years as a 31 year old for 20 games on the White Sox. It is slim pickings out there so you have to be patient with guys that have a lot of tools.

Gift Ngoepe = Clint Barmes at ML minimum, with speed, not power, as only real offensive weapon. Oh, please, Alen, learn to field at SS!
