Kerry: As I recall, this was not so much of a standard-type trade. The D’Backs had selected Brett Lorin in the Rule 5 Draft and it became apparent to them that Lorin could not make the MLB squad. Therefore, they had to offer Lorin back to the Pirates, or offer a player in exchange that would be acceptable to the Pirates. If I am not mistaken the Pirates selected Rowland, who had just turned 20, and has a very live arm.

I agree, between Rowland here and the guy they got along with Sanchez, those are the kinds of deals Neil needs to keep making in order to earn some legitimacy in the eyes of critics. However, winning in Pittsburgh will take care of most of that, lol.
