He is old for the level, put you have to like a 9.0 SO/9 rate and a .260 GO/AO ratio. He K rate has stayed strong in the VWL, while his groundball rate has actually improved. Reid has shown excellent control and a high K rate throughout his entire career.

With the strong season in 2012 carrying over into the Winter League, he has to be putting himself on the map for a bullpen spot in 2013. Pirates love big-time groundball pitchers and it is hard to top him in that regard. It also helps that he is being used in the closer role
