One nice thing about so many decent choices to pick from in the rule 5 is that the Pirates chances of losing any of the players they might not want to see get away up are pretty good.

I would be willing to take Hood in Rule 5 if the Bucs are willing to keep him on roster. He can play center. Either get someone in Rule 5 that has a lot of talent like Hood or go for someone who could be relief pitcher like Meek.

I would be vary wary about even considering Robinson as possible platoon bat at first. It is possible, but he could be a Matt Hague too.

Other options for first are needed and that makes Jones valuable to this team.

The Rule 5 is meaningless to the Pirates because they have a manager that only plays 21,22 players on his roster, no matter who they get he won’t have a chance to stay.
A lot of people are going to be surprised when they see how little the Pirates get for Hanrahan. First of all if a team gives up a 5mil player for Hanrahan, that amounts to 12 mil in value that they paid for Hanrahan, is he worth 12Mil to anyone? IMO, I would just keep Hanrahan and only move him if the Pirates are out of it in the middle of the year.
The best option is to take Capuano (or someone similiar) even up for him IMO.

I saw Hood a lot, living here in Harrisburg.

I liked him, but I am not sure he is MLB ready yet.
