Pirates Make Brandon Inge Signing Official

Last night we heard that the Pittsburgh Pirates were close to a deal with Brandon Inge. This morning the team made the move official via press release. Inge is coming in on a minor league deal with an invite to Spring Training. There are now 61 players in camp. The Spring Training tracker has been updated.

  1. Obviously, it’s a no-risk proposition to bring him in–Inge at least has (or more likely, had) some tangible assets in power and decent defense. If he has anything left in the tank, I’d rather see Inge and Mercer on the bench than another year of 250-300 empty plate appearances from Harrison.
