Any thoughts on Kyle Waldrop? His secondary numbers in the minors and the majors are not especially pretty, but Minnesota thought enough of him to call him up the last two years and his ERA was 2.53 in 21.1 innings this past year, although one wouldn’t necessarily expect a repeat given his secondary numbers. Have you seen him pitch?

In that (happy) scenario, start the year with Sanchez at the #4, move Karstens to long relief, slot the winner of the McPherson/Lock bake-off at #5 and fill the back-end of the pen with Morris and Leroux.

I don’t see any scenario that puts Locke in the bullpen as he’s much more valuable as a starter.

Also saw Rob Biertempfel made a comment that he heard Locke is the early favorite for the 5th spot. Makes sense considering his experience in AAA compared to McPherson.

Both pitchers pitched out of the bullpen in the majors last year, I don’t see them going back unless it comes down to a numbers game. I believe Huntington does not care if he has 2 lefties in the pen at the major league level, but I think Hurdle does, there is no way that I keep Leroux over Locke in the pen.
