The Pirates had 8 options before they needed those guys.

There’s really no fault here. The Pirates entered the season with 8 early-season options, and a few more coming after a month. This is just to show why you need depth. And because of that, adding guys like Liriano, Karstens, and Morton is smart. That gives you more depth throughout the year.

Only way to put it. Who signed Liriano AFTER he broke his arm ? Who brought back Karstens AFTER stating one of the reasons they didn’t make him an offer was his health ?
Who brought back Morton knowing he wasn’t going to be ready till at least a couple months into the season ?

This wasn’t a run of bad luck, it was bad management.

Has anyone seen the games? Is this an issue where he’s not able to throw them for strikes, thus making it an efficiency issue and batters are waiting for fastballs? Or is everything just winding up with less movement than it should which results in more hits, or at least more foul balls?
