By: emjayinTN Mon, 20 May 2013 23:09:25 +0000 Tim: Thanks for the article about Alen Hanson. I had asked that question of you when he went 16 games without an error after making 13 in his first 16 games. I sure hope the Pirates do not let Green get too far away, because Hanson does have a tendency to act like a 20 year old every so often, which he will be until he turns 21 in October. He obviously has the physical tools to go 23 games without a position error and Shortstop is good for an average of 3 to 4 ground balls a game. I agree with the others – you manage to stir the pot and keep a level of interest alive with knowledgeable fans.

By: Tim Williams Mon, 20 May 2013 18:53:46 +0000 Going one by one:

Cole – If he’s still in the minors, then he’ll be there.
Taillon – He’ll be on there
Hanson – Maybe, depending on how much people count his early season struggles against him
Polanco – Yes
1st Rounders – Depends on who they get, but a good possibility that at least one is on there
Heredia – Depends on how he does in WV. He was borderline coming into the year.
Bell – Definitely hitting this year, but was borderline coming into the year.
Glasnow – I could see him making the top 100.
Kingham – Probably won’t until he has success above A-ball.

So I think you’ve got five strong bets (Cole, Taillon, Polanco, one first rounder, Glasnow), and four borderline (Hanson, Heredia, Bell, other first rounder).

All the people complaining about how “new media” killed journalism, and how bloggers are just sitting in their basements reacting to the stories that are written by the few remaining “real reporters”, needs to come and read coverage like this. This article provided both more “reporting” and more “analysis” than anything that’s been written anywhere in the “mainstream media”.

By: Stefan Males Mon, 20 May 2013 18:46:10 +0000 Tim, after the draft would it be out of the question that the Pirates end up having up 11 top 100 prospects on most major prospect lists?

Im thinking Cole, Taillon, Hanson, Polanco, the two first round picks are definitely going to be on there and potentially Herdia, Bell, Glasnow and Kingham

By: Brian Gahagen Mon, 20 May 2013 18:32:17 +0000 That is great news. The Pirates need a potential star SS.
