I’ll have radar readings then. From what I’ve heard, he tops out at 96 MPH, so sitting 91-93 is possible. It wasn’t long ago, he was sitting high 80’s

The baseball america quote about him sitting at 91-93 seemed lower than what I expected.

If they can get him healthy, do him a favor and trade him. If the Pirates would have had Machado, playing SS at AAA, he would not have beaten Barmes out and he certainly would not have beaten Alvarez out. The Pirates label their players much the same as scouts and sabermetric geeks, once you get the label, even if you perform (See Jeff Locke), it does not matter they will just keep trying to come up with reasons why the player has that label and is destined to fail.
Most players, major league and minor league have some kind of deficiency, IMO, the Pirates have a big problem with the degree of the deficiency and they hold players back because of them, when other teams bring them up anyway. Example, if a pitcher walks 3 hitters a game, they might keep him in the minors until that number goes down even though the guy might have an ERA of 3.0 or less, they will site that he has things he has to work on. Guess what, every pitcher has something they have to work on.
