I don’t even go to the trib or post for Pirates coverage anymore.

I’d be surprised if Tailon isn’t pitching in Indy before the end of July, although that is assuming he can work through his recent command/control issues.

Probably, since he was a very good No. 2 overall pick at the time, though it is impossible to say how he would have developed at Rice.

I see very little difference between the two IMO.

It gave all the stats, pirates thinking on young pitchers and quotes from the pitcher. Not only has the pirates upgraded their system, but Tim has not been left behind with his blog. Great get tim, with the new writers. Best place to go for coverage on OUR Bucco’s.

I guess we can call him Pi – llon. Hey it’s a Santelli article, I couldn’t resist.

For one, he still got misses on 13% of swings against his fastball tonight. That’s decent; most MLB starters do not get over 20%.
——-
The bigger concern of mine is separation of velocity between his fastball and changeup. He only had a 7 mph difference between the two. I would like to see a bit more speed on the fastball and take a little off the changeup. The best power pitchers get a 8-10 mph difference to disrupt a hitter’s timing. This is why Taillon is developing his change, to make his fastball more effective and get more whiffs.

With a plus-fastball, it seems like he should be blowing it by more batters.
