After a bullpen session with Martin and a couple days of preparation in studying scouting reports of the opponents, I think he could be ready. I just don’t care about whether or not he’s striking out 10 a game as long as he isn’t walking 5. I mean, how many times does everyone inches in the organization have tkte Leo’s that they don’t focus on pitching for strikeouts until everyone gets it? He had command issues, now he isn’t walking as many, and it’s probably because he’s staying more in the zone, and attempting to be more efficient. Just like a batter, the focus should be on the K/BB ratio. The simple fact is, he’s getting outs and going deeper into games, and if Gomez goes on the DL, he’s the best option.

I would guess Mr Options, Bryan Morris would be one. Since we need a 40 man spot, it is Zagurski for # 2.

However, if Gomez goes on the DL, I’m betting Morris stays.

Much the way the Tigers broke Verlander in,try giving Cole the spot starts, and after he gets grounded,if he does reasonably well, put him in the rotation later on this Summer.

He’s starting to step up in AAA, and I’m convinced his skills will play up with MLB scouting reports and Martin catching.

Jared Hughes helped the Pirates a great deal in 2012 and I hope he has found his sinker and command.
