TOP OF THE SYSTEM
A look at how the current top 20 prospects did today. Note that this list doesn’t include players currently in the majors. If a player is in the majors, he will be removed, everyone below him will be shifted up a spot, and a new player will be added to the bottom of the list. Rankings are from the mid-season rankings, and links on each name go to their Pirates Prospects player page.

Game Notes: Andy Oliver threw 109 pitches tonight, with 70 strikes. His control was much better than his last starts, considering he was reaching the 100 pitch mark around the fifth inning in the last two outings, and has been walking a batter per inning over the last month. Josh Harrison had a big night at the plate, knocking in six of the ten runs. Alex Presley hit his fifth homer of the year. Vic Black was activated from the disabled list today, and made his first appearance in over a month.

Alex Dickerson also went 3-for-7 with a double and a stolen base. Dickerson had an .881 OPS in the month of June coming into tonight’s games. Eliecer Navarro had a great outing in his first start, but was hit pretty hard tonight in his second outing in the Eastern League. Ethan Hollingsworth stepped in nicely to the rotation to make a spot start in game two of the double header.
A+: BRADENTON MARAUDERS

Game Notes: Willy Garcia had a huge night, going 6-for-6 with a double and his tenth homer of the year. Garcia has been on fire in the month of June, hitting for a .353/.405/.706 line in 68 at-bats. He also has six homers in that span. Stetson Allie is 6-for-18 with a walk and eight strikeouts in his first five games in Bradenton. Zack Dodson got off to a great start with a 3.45 ERA in 28.2 innings in the month of May. So far in the month of June he has a 7.17 ERA in 21.1 innings. Tonight’s start was one of his better outings.
A: WEST VIRGINIA POWER
Result: Hagerstown 12, West Virginia 5
Starting Pitcher: Jason Creasy, RHP (3.54) – 4.2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 0 HR
Top Hitter: Barrett Barnes, CF (.258) – 2-for-5, 2 RBI, SB
Other Notable Performers:
Jordan Steranka, DH (.375) – 2-for-5, RBI
Dilson Herrera, 2B (.277) – 1-fort-5, 2B
Game Notes: Jason Creasy spent the first half of the season in the bullpen. After the promotions of Joely Rodriguez and Orlando Castro, there were two open rotation spots. One of those went to Luis Heredia, and Creasy took the other. He’s flashed a fastball that has jumped up to 94 at times this year, and is starting to get some results with his new slider, with 26 strikeouts in 21.2 innings in the month of May. Barrett Barnes went 2-for-5 with a stolen base, and is now hitting for a .311 average and an .865 OPS in 45 at-bats over his last ten games. The downside is that he’s striking out over 30% of the time during that stretch, and almost 30% of the time on the season.
A-: JAMESTOWN JAMMERS

Game Notes: After a good first start, Dovydas Neverauskas failed to make it out of the first inning in his second start of the year. Aside from his two hits and one walk in 0.2 innings, he also hit two batters. Shane Carle struggled in his first outing, but had a better outcome tonight. The only damage from the 10th round pick was a solo homer. Jamestown only had two hits on the night.
RK: GCL PIRATES

@timwilliamsP2 he was very impressive. FB 90-93. Curve 80-82 with sharp break
—
Grullon is listed as 6′ 0″, 180 pounds on his MILB.com page, but he’s actually 6′ 7″, 197 pounds, having shot up in height since he was signed. He’s also added some good velocity and has the makings of two good pitches. He will be one of the more interesting guys to follow in the GCL this year due to his size and stuff.
