I’m anxious to watch his work today.
And I’m not worried about Cole’s K numbers; just seeing the Nats concerns about Strasburg right now confirm that.

Also I want Cole to stay up mainly so he can get experience from a strikeout pitcher like Burnett and Liriano. I believe working with these guys will help him to really harness his skills.

And if Morton somewhat forces Cole back down to AAA he can hone some things down there and it would mean Morton is having success. I’d like to see Morton succeed especially since we have him next year and I haven’t seen anything on McFear for a while which scares me a little.

We saw Cincy bring up Tony Cingrani earlier this year, kid had some success, and they sent him back down. And now due to some injuries, hes back up tonight.

I realize its not the exact situation as Cole, but he was still a top 100 prospect, trying to break into a solid rotation on a contending team.

Anyway, there are still a lot of if there: “if Cole has success”, “if Wandy doesn’t miss a start”, “if Morton can pitch with the limited success we’ve seen previously”.

So if Wandy can start Thursday and Morton is deemed healthy does Cole go back down even if he pitches ok tonight? Or does Morton take over long relief?
