Alex Dickerson Wins Another Eastern League Player of the Week Award

Alex Dickerson was named the Eastern League Player of the Week again.

Alex Dickerson has been crushing the ball lately. He has a .298/.342/.522 line in 339 at-bats this year with Altoona. Most of that production has come since the start of June, where he has a .360/.398/.640 line in 186 at-bats, along with 11 home runs.

Dickerson was named the Eastern League Player of the Week two weeks ago. He didn’t stop there, having another huge week this past week to take the same award for the second time in a three week span. Last week Dickerson went 12-for-30 with four doubles and two homers to become the Eastern League’s top hitter. He finished the week strong with a three hit game, a four hit game, and a two hit game with two doubles over the weekend. He knocked in eight runs in Friday’s game, leading Altoona to victory.

If he keeps this up, it would be easy to see Dickerson making it up to Indianapolis in time for the International League playoffs. He’s probably the front runner for the Eastern League Player of the Month award, considering he’s been the Player of the Week in two of the four weeks this month, and hasn’t been bad in the other two weeks.

I’d say he’s not just mastering his level but dominating it. Promotion after the trade deadline? Could he be in the running, along with Lambo, to be the successor to GFJ?

Can we big him up for the St. Louis series? We need someone that is crushing the ball!

If Jones is arbitrated with or tendered a contract this winter it’s a waste of money.

He is the best option between now and the end of this season. Not afterwards. Lambo then Dickerson deserve a chance in 2014.

The guy can play in the outfield to. Not graceful but better then alot of right fielders.

How much longer does Dickerson have to keep this up to start getting attention as a “breakout prospect”? It seems like he has been overshadowed this year by Lambo and polanco, but I think he could be helping the Pirates soon. Pepole seem to forget that he was rated a top 50 prospect in the draft by baseball america and that value was almost completely based off of his bat. He appears to be finally realizing that potential. Hope he can keep it up!

I feel like he has. I’ve talked about him a lot in the weekly “Top Performers” feature.
