Minor League Schedule: Taillon and Glasnow Set For Tonight

Big day, as not only do Jameson Taillon and Tyler Glasnow take the mound, there are some other interesting pitchers on the schedule. Altoona was suspended in the first inning of Monday’s game. They will finish that game today, prior to the regularly scheduled game, which will now be seven innings. Bradenton was rained out yesterday. They will make the game up as part of a doubleheader in August. The GCL Pirates were rained out yesterday as well. They will play a doubleheader today. Jameson Taillon

Taillon allowed four runs last time he faced Binghamton

AAA: Indianapolis (55-31) vs Louisville (42-43) 7:05pm
Probable starter:  Stolmy Pimentel (0-1, 3.50)
Yesterday’s Result:  Louisville 5, Indianapolis 2

Stolmy Pimentel will make his fourth start for Indianapolis tonight. He started off with two strong outings for Indianapolis, allowing one earned run over 13 innings. His last outing was a tough one, giving up six runs on five hits and four walks in five innings. With Altoona, Pimentel was 4-3, 3.61 in 13 starts. On the year, he has thrown a total of 95.1 innings, allowing 88 hits, nine homers and 44 walks. He has 80 strikeouts, a 1.16 GO/AO ratio and a .244 BAA.

AA: Altoona (36-46) @ Binghamton (50-29) 5:05pm DH
Probable starter: Jameson Taillon (3-5, 2.90)
Yesterday’s Result: Altoona was suspended in the first inning

Jameson Taillon will start the completion of yesterday’s game for Altoona. The game two starter has yet to be announced. On the year, Taillon has made 15 starts, throwing a total of 83.2 innings, allowing 81 hits, five homers and 31 walks. He has 81 strikeouts, a 1.20 GO/AO ratio and a .248 BAA. In his last start, he went seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, no walks and he struck out just one batter. He made four starts in June, going 0-0, 1.96 in 23 innings.

High-A: Bradenton (31-48 overall, 5-6 2nd half) vs Fort Myers (50-27) 6:30pm
Probable starter:   Joely Rodriguez (0-1, 4.35)
Yesterday’s Result: Bradenton was rained out

Joely Rodriguez will make his third start for Bradenton since being promoted from West Virginia. In his first game, he went five innings, giving up three runs on five hits, one walk and he struck out two batters. In his last outing, Rodriguez went 5.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and one walk, with two strikeouts. With West Virginia, he went 5-5, 2.72 in 14 starts, with 57 strikeouts, a 2.15 GO/AO ratio and a .280 BAA.

Low-A: West Virginia (45-37 overall, 8-4 2nd half) @ Hagerstown (45-34) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Tyler Glasnow (4-1, 2.44)
Yesterday’s Result: Hagerstown 6, West Virginia 2

Tyler Glasnow will make his 16th start of the season tonight. He has pitched a total of 66.1 innings, allowing 34 hits, six homers and 39 walks. Glasnow leads the SAL with 98 strikeouts and he has a .149 BAA. In his last start, which was shortened by rain, he threw four scoreless innings, allowing one hit, two walks and he struck out three batters. In the month of June, he was 1-0, 1.52 in five starts, with 34 strikeouts in 23.2 innings. On the road, he is 2-0, 2.70 in seven starts.

Short-Season A: Jamestown (8-5) vs Mahoning Valley (6-9) 7:05pm
Probable Starter:  Isaac Sanchez (1-0, 1.13)
Yesterday’s Result: Jamestown 1, Mahoning Valley 0

Isaac Sanchez will make his third start of the season tonight. He did make a start on 6/27, but that game was suspended and hasn’t been finished yet so the stats are still unoffical. In his last official start, he went three innings, leaving early due to his pitch count. He gave up one run on one hit and four walks. In his first outing, he threw five shutout innings, giving up three hits, no walks and he struck out five batters.

Rookie:  GCL Pirates (4-4) vs GCL Yankees2 (3-4) 11:00am DH
Probable Starter: Cesilio Pimentel (0-0, 3.38) and Wei-Chung Wang (0-2, 5.19)
Yesterday’s Result: Pirates were postponed yesterday

Cesilio Pimentel will make his second start of the season. In his first start, he gave up one earned run over 2.2 innings, allowing three hits and one walk without recording a strikeout. Pimentel has spent the last two season in the DSL, where he went 3-3, 2.75 in six starts and eight relief appearances last year. He had 38 strikeouts and a .229 BAA in 52.1 innings. In 2011, he went 1-1, 2.31 in three starts and four relief outings. In 23.1 innings, he had 31 strikeouts and a .211 BAA. Wei-Chung Wang will likely start game two today, his third start of the season. In his first outing, he went 4.1 innings, allowing four runs on five hits, no walks and he struck out eight batters. In game two, he again went 4.1 innings. In that game, he gave up one run on four hits, no walks and he had four strikeouts. Wang missed all of last year with Tommy John Surgery.

In fact they have some of the same relatives in common, so it was only natural for him to become a lifelong Pirates fan.     They have cancelled the second Altoona game tonight. They are still going to try and finish out last night’s game starting at 5, though weather is looking iffy.
