Minor League Schedule: Ten Games On Tuesday’s Schedule

There are ten games on the schedule tonight, including starts from Nick Kingham, Luis Heredia, Neil Kozikowski and Tyler Glasnow. Altoona was rained out last night. They will make the game up as part of a doubleheader today. West Virginia was rained out last night. They will make the game up today as part of a doubleheader. Jamestown was rained out. AAA: Indianapolis (63-40) @ Charlotte (45-58) 7:15pm
Probable starter: Atahualpa Severino (0-1, 2.49)
Yesterday’s Result: Indianapolis 17, Charlotte 1

Atahualpa Severino will start tonight for Indianapolis. He has made one start and 13 relief appearances for Indianapolis. In his only start, Severino went 3.2 innings, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk. Prior to joining the Pirates system, he pitched six games in relief for Omaha. On the year, he has thrown 34.1 innings, allowing 31 hits, six homers and 15 walks. He has 36 strikeouts and a .244 BAA.

AA: Altoona (45-54) @ Trenton (50-50) 6:05pm DH
Probable starter: Eliecer Navarro (2-3, 4.63) and Nick Kingham (3-2, 2.84)
Yesterday’s Result: Altoona was rained out

Eliecer Navarro will make his seventh start for Altoona tonight. He went 1-9, 2.86 in 11 starts and two relief appearances for Bradenton. On the year, he has thrown 104.1 innings, allowing 95 hits, seven homers and 25 walks. Navarro has 85 strikeouts, an 0.77 GO/AO ratio and a .235 BAA. In his last start, he went seven innings, allowing three runs on three hits and a walk. It was his longest start for Altoona and he also struck out a AA high of six batters. Nick Kingham will make his 21st appearance of the year tonight. He made 13 starts for Bradenton, going 6-3, 3.09 in 70 innings, with 75 strikeouts. At the time, he was leading the FSL in strikeouts. For Altoona, he has started five times and also pitched twice in relief, restarting games that were suspended due to rain. With Altoona, he has thrown 38 innings, allowing 33 hits, one homer, 11 walks and he has 32 strikeouts. In his last start, Kingham threw 6.1 shutout innings. He threw 5.2 shutout innings in his AA debut against Trenton.

High-A: Bradenton (36-62 overall, 10-20 2nd half) vs Lakeland (41-52) 6:30pm 
Probable starter: Pat Ludwig (0-0, 2.93)
Yesterday’s Result: Bradenton 9, Lakeland 5

Pat Ludwig will make his third start for Bradenton. He started the year with West Virginia, going 6-0, 3.12 in 23 relief appearance and one start. Ludwig has also pitched three times in relief for Bradenton. In his last start, he went four innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks. He has thrown a total of 64.1 innings, giving up 53 hits, four homers and 18 walks. Ludwig has 53 strikeouts, a 1.76 GO/AO ratio and a .226 BAA.

Low-A: West Virginia (53-44 overall, 16-11 2nd half) vs Kannapolis (39-59) 5:05pm DH
Probable starter: Luis Heredia (1-2, 4.79) and Tyler Glasnow (6-2, 2.43)
Yesterday’s Result: West Virginia was rained out

Luis Heredia will make his fifth start of the season tonight. His last outing was the completion of a suspended game and he did not do well in the relief role. Heredia allowed eight runs on seven hits and four walks in 3.2 innings. Prior to that game, Heredia had a 1.59 ERA in 17 innings, allowing just 11 hits. He has an 0.78 GO/AO ratio and a .243 BAA. Tyler Glasnow will get the start in game two, his 19th start of the season. He has pitched 81.1 innings, giving up 45 hits, seven homers and 46 walks. Glasnow is second in the SAL with 116 strikeouts, though he will take over the lead from CJ Edwards, who was just traded out of the league. Glasnow has a .161 BAA, including .149 from lefties. In his last start, he went five innings, allowing one run on five hits and three walks.

Short-Season A: Jamestown (20-13) @ Batavia (16-16) 7:05pm
Probable Starter: Chad Kuhl (0-1, 1.20)
Yesterday’s Result: Jamestown was rained out

Chad Kuhl will make his fifth start of the season. He has pitched 15 innings, allowing 11 hits, no homers and three walks. Kuhl has 13 strikeouts, a 1.14 GO/AO ratio and a .204 BAA. In his last start, he went five innings for the first time, allowing three runs(two earned) on six hits and no walks, while picking up six strikeouts. Prior to that outing, he had not allowed a run in three starts.

Neil Kozikowski will make his pro debut today. The 8th round pick this year signed an overslot deal for $425, 000.

John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects.
